Barry Smith, BA, CPT, CVRP has been helping young people improve their lives for over two decades. He has used sports and recreation to help motivate young people from many diverse backgrounds. Barry has provided strength-focused training seminars and workshops to many different organizations and teams provincially and across Canada. Barry has been involved with the game of hockey for over 40 years as a player, coach and volunteer. With a deep love for hockey, and specifically goaltending, Barry wrote The 59 Laws of Goaltending as a resource for goalies of any age or level.

His second publication, The Mentor's Handbook is a guide to effective mentoring that goes beyond the traditional strength-based approach to guiding young people. Barry has BA from Memorial University, he is a Certified Personal Trainer, and a Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional from the College of Vocational
Rehabilitation Professionals . Barry lives in Manuals, Newfoundland with his wife, two children and dog Ozzy.
